A new year, a new TV show!
The LBtv group have decided to delay the broadcast of our first show until the new year. It was a hard decision but the right one.
We have been very lucky and have great support from local companies and organisations in LB. Bedfordshire Libraries have been really kind and said we can use the Culture Cafe to broadcast the live show. The Culture Cafe has been used as a base for a few meetings and very hospitable. We have also used The Aswell Arms in Leighton Buzzard for a meeting and have another there tonight. A couple of weeks ago we held our first rehearsal for the show, it gave us a chance to look at the layout and make best use of the space. We are also very grateful to David Sambrook at DJ Services for the use of his workshop that allowed us to rehearse. Without the support of these and other local companies it would be very hard for a project like this to get off the ground. So thank you all.
As for the show...we were due to go live this week but one of the major stumbling blocks has been the insurance. When we originally came up with this idea we never imaged we would need constitutions, editorial policies, insurance etc but needs must so we have to work through it. A major stumbling block we have is funding. We have kept costs to a minimum for the pilot show but the cost of insurance has hit us hard. Between now and the show (probably late January) we need to raise some funds and get the insurance paid for. The LBtv group are meeting tonight to discuss possible ideas.
As soon as a date is confirmed we will announce it on the website
I will keep the blog updated more often but should you have any questions please feel free to email me ian@leightonbuzz.com

It’s all about the date
The LBtv group are meeting once again this Friday at the Library Cafe, Lake Street. I am currently writing the agenda for the meeting and I have just added the most important thing topic and it reads “Pilot – When?”
We have had 4 meetings now and we have got a great team and great ideas but there is only so much talking we can do, I think it’s important that we have a date so we can base meetings, filming, and production around it and we all know what the deadlines are. I will see what the others think but I would hope we could go for a show some time in November. Any later and all the work we have done so far might need to be done again as currently there is not much talk or even mention of Christmas! A December show would need to reflect what is happening out there as we all know how Christmas likes to take over.
There are still lots of stuff happening behind the scenes but maybe not as fast as we would like, it can be difficult to try and fit this in with everything else like work and other commitments. The ‘Search for Excellence’ goes on and one of our very talented film makers has been to a local Martial Arts group and has been filming them for an item on the show.
I had a meeting on Monday evening with Rachel from Leighton Buzzard Theatre about the possibility of using some of the space for future recordings. It was the first time I have been to the level of the building and was very impressed with their Theatre. They have a great set up and I look forward to visiting very soon and watching a show!
I hope my next update will be confirming the date for the pilot....watch this space.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog

Meeting 3 was successful too
The LBtv group met for the third time on Friday night and once again it was a very successful meeting. Once again we met at the Library Cafe in Lake Street.
Unlike the last 2 meeting we had an agenda and I was taking ‘minutes’, I can confirm I am pretty rubbish at it! We tried to stick to the agenda but there is always so much to talk about!
We have been working on a constitution for a couple of weeks and this was agreed by the group and Mark and I were made joint Chairmen. I have mentioned this before but having a constitution in place means we can move forward. We have been enquiring about Public Liability Insurance but couldn’t even get a quote until they saw our constitution.
Work on the pilot is going really really well. We have a full schedule now and know what the show content will be. We still have to do some pre-recording but things are taking shape nicely. I also think we have our presenting team. We have a great team working of the whole LBtv project and its proving a pleasure to work with them.
During the pilot we will be looking for interaction from the viewers; this will be via Twitter, FaceBook, Windows Live Messenger, email, sms text message. There are still a few things to iron out but it will be a great way to hear YOUR thoughts during the show.
One of the great things about this project is that we really are leading the way. No other Town, City or Village I know of is doing a live show. Who would have thought that the forgotten corner of Bedfordshire is leading the way! I can’t wait for the day when we get contacted and asked how we do it by another like–minded bunch of residents from another Town, City of Village.

Promoting LBtv
I had another idea today… the Youngevity group have different invited guests each week to do a talk and in the near future they will be having a man from a local garden centre talking about winter plants and preparing you garden for the winter. What a great feature that would make on the show! I will have to ask Mick the guys name and invite him on.
I am pleased to say that Go Cycle, the cycling team from Leighton-Linslade Town Council will be on the pilot show. They have agreed to come on and talk about all the fantastic work they do and show us some of the excellent cycling facilities we have in the Town. I am very much looking forward to this as it will be a great way to promote another form of transport in our Town. We have some really good routes and facilities for cycling so we really should make the most of them!

What’s on in Leighton Buzzard?
I have been adding stuff to the page for a while now and it is amazing just how much stuff is actually going on!
Take a look for yourself and if you have something to add then let me know ian@leightonbuzz.com
Meeting 3 has arrived already
I will be giving a talk on LBtv to the Youngevity group in LB tomorrow. The group is for people aged 59+. I am really looking forward to it and delighted to be invited along.
Things are coming along nicely on our opening video for the pilot show. LBtv’s Brian Wilson is the Project Manager for this and its sounds really good. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so you will just have to watch it and see for yourself!
Now we have this new blog I will be interest to hear any feedback from you – The readers! So feel free J
